Putnam County YMCA: A New Hub for Health and Community
The Putnam County YMCA construction project stands as a major milestone for Putnam County. Led by Tonn and Blank Construction and designed by Elevatus, the 71,000 square foot facility was brought to life through a strong partnership between the City of Greencastle, the YMCA of the Wabash Valley, and Putnam County Hospital.
This long-awaited community project brings nearly 60,000 square feet of recreation and wellness space to the region. The center features three full gyms, a fitness center, group exercise rooms, a teen lounge, child watch area, and a large community room with a teaching kitchen. An 11,000 square foot medical office expands local access to prompt care, family medicine, physical therapy, and occupational health services.
Building Through Challenges
Construction came with real hurdles. Supply chain disruptions delayed key materials, and a wet spring slowed foundation work. Close coordination among all partners was essential to keep the project moving. Tonn and Blank’s self-perform capabilities and proactive planning allowed the team to stay in control of quality and schedule throughout these challenges.
